Google Ends Certified Refurbished Pixel 7 Sales, Pixel 9 Still Missing

Google has quietly removed refurbished Pixel 7 models from its official store, even as the Pixel 9 series has yet to appear in the company’s certified refurbished lineup.

For shoppers seeking a lower-cost option backed by warranty and inspection, Google’s Certified Refurbished program has long been an attractive choice. Devices sold through this program typically undergo a thorough inspection, receive replacement parts when necessary, come unlocked for use with any carrier, and are covered by a one-year warranty. While private-market used phones can sometimes offer lower prices, buying a refurbished Pixel directly from Google offers added peace of mind for many buyers.

Until recently, that selection included earlier Pixel generations, but the available models have shrunk in recent days.

At present, Google’s refurbished catalog lists the Pixel 8 series — Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 8a — alongside the Pixel 7a, with prices typically ranging from about $289 to $649 depending on model and condition. The Pixel 7 lineup has been removed from the refurbished storefront within the past few days. Google had been promoting refurbished Pixel 7 units with additional incentives for a time, but those listings no longer appear in the store’s certified refurbishment section.

This change is not entirely unexpected. The Pixel 7 series debuted in 2022 and is scheduled to reach the end of its update window in the latter half of 2027. As devices age and approach the end of official software support, manufacturers and certified refurbishers commonly adjust inventory and remove older models from their official refurbished offerings. What raises more questions is the absence of Pixel 9 devices from the refurbished roster so far.

Historically, Google has taken a few weeks to a few months to add newer models to the certified refurbished program after their retail debut. For example, the Pixel 8 started appearing in the refurbished catalog roughly two months after the Pixel 10 entered the market. With newer Pixel generations now available, it’s reasonable to expect the Pixel 9 to be added to the refurbished selection in the coming weeks, though Google has not provided a public timeline.

For buyers monitoring refurbished availability, the current lineup still offers recent hardware at reduced prices. The Pixel 8 series and the Pixel 7a represent modern features and ongoing software support, and they remain the primary options for those seeking a certified refurbished Pixel device directly from Google. If you prefer an older Pixel model such as the Pixel 7 specifically, you may need to rely on third-party marketplaces or wait for Google to reintroduce different inventory batches.

When considering a refurbished phone, keep a few practical points in mind: confirm the warranty length and coverage, check whether the device is fully unlocked for your carrier, verify that replaced components are genuine or OEM-equivalent, and read any available refurbishment or condition descriptions carefully. These details can help you weigh refurbished options against new models and private-sale used phones.
