Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Debut 185Hz Screens, 8 Elite Gen5 Chips

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco has expanded its flagship lineup with two new models: the Poco F9 Pro and the Poco F9 Ultra. Both phones push Poco further into premium territory, combining high-end chipsets, advanced displays, upgraded camera systems and large batteries to appeal to power users, mobile photographers and gamers alike.

At the heart of the new Poco F9 series are top-tier processors and generous memory configurations. The Poco F9 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, making it suitable for intensive multitasking, content creation and high-end gaming. The Poco F9 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB) and is available with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Both models include a dedicated 12nm VisionBoost D8 graphics co-processor designed to accelerate AI frame insertion, super-resolution processing and other graphics-heavy tasks, improving visual smoothness and reducing CPU load.

Display technology is a major focus for Poco with the F9 series. Both phones use HyperRGB AMOLED panels with an ultra-high refresh rate of 185Hz and peak brightness up to 4,500 nits for clear visibility outdoors. The Poco F9 Pro has a 6.59-inch screen at a 2510 x 1156 resolution, while the Poco F9 Ultra offers a larger 6.9-inch panel at 2608 x 1200. Both displays support fast touch responsiveness, offering 480Hz 10-point touch sampling and an industry-leading 4800Hz instant touch sampling for low-latency input. Durability and security are addressed with Gorilla Glass 7i protection and integrated ultrasonic fingerprint sensors beneath the display.

Camera hardware on both phones has seen a substantial upgrade. The two models share a primary 200MP sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 4K video recording capability, delivering improved detail and stability for photos and video. Secondary camera setups differ between the Pro and Ultra models to meet different user needs.

The Poco F9 Pro combines the 200MP main sensor with a 50MP floating telephoto lens that provides around 2.5x optical zoom and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor for wider scenes and group shots. The Poco F9 Ultra goes further, pairing the main sensor with a 50MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide lens for high-resolution wide-angle images. Both phones include a 32MP front-facing selfie camera designed for clear, detailed portraits and video calls.

Audio has been refined through a collaboration with Bose. The Poco F9 Pro ships with symmetrical dual stereo speakers tuned for balanced sound, while the Poco F9 Ultra introduces a 2.1-channel audio system that pairs dual stereo speakers with a dedicated 1620 rear subwoofer to enhance bass and overall impact for music, movies and games. These audio improvements aim to give both models a richer multimedia experience without external accessories.

Battery life is another area where the two models diverge. The Poco F9 Pro is equipped with a robust 6,330mAh battery designed to deliver all-day use under heavy workloads. The Poco F9 Ultra steps up to an enormous 8,050mAh silicon-carbon battery that includes a 16% silicon composition in its construction, aimed at extending longevity and thermal stability. Both phones share identical fast-charging capabilities: 100W wired rapid charging, 50W wireless fast charging, plus reverse charging options at 27W wired and 22.5W wireless to charge other devices on the go.

The Poco F9 Pro will be offered in Black, White and Aurora Green—the latter featuring a glow-in-the-dark rear cover—while the Poco F9 Ultra arrives in Black and Dark Cherry finishes with a glass fiber texture and interactive lighting accents on the rear for a distinctive look.

Pricing for the new Poco F9 lineup reflects its premium positioning. The Poco F9 Pro starts at $699 for the 12GB/256GB model with an early-bird price of $649, and a 12GB/512GB option priced at $769 (early-bird $699).
