Google Finance Launches a Dedicated Android App

After beta testing began last August, the AI-powered redesign of Google Finance is now officially launching, accompanied by a fresh Android app. This relaunch brings a modern, conversational research experience and updated mobile access to help users follow markets more intuitively.

Google started piloting a major overhaul to its Finance service in 2025. The redesign integrates advanced AI models that let you ask natural-language questions about stocks, markets, and portfolios, while offering improved charting and access to real-time market data. The aim is to make financial research more accessible and to surface meaningful context behind market moves.

Google Finance has now exited beta with two notable additions: portfolios and custom briefings. Portfolios are rolling out globally and provide a consolidated dashboard where you can view all of your investments together. That dashboard displays performance information, offers insights on asset allocation, and highlights other useful metrics so you can quickly assess your positions and diversification.

Creating a portfolio is straightforward. You can add holdings manually, include a screenshot, or upload supporting documents such as PDFs and CSV files that list your positions. Once uploaded, the platform organizes the data so you can monitor performance and compare allocations across sectors, asset types, and individual holdings.

Once your portfolio is set up, it’s easy to dive deeper with the research tool. Try asking questions like “what sectors are currently underrepresented in my portfolio?” or “how does my fixed income allocation impact my long-term growth potential?”

Beyond portfolio aggregation, Google Finance now supports custom, conversational briefings. You can request concise daily or periodic summaries tailored to your interests—for example, a pre-market briefing that analyzes significant overnight moves across major cryptocurrencies or stocks you follow. These briefings are generated in plain language so they are easy to scan and act upon.

When a briefing is ready, notifications appear through the Google app on Android and iOS and within the Google Finance research panel on the web. Alerts ensure you receive timely updates and can quickly access deeper analysis when markets are active or when notable events occur in the assets you track.

Google Finance market intelligence

The Google Finance app has returned to Android after being discontinued in 2015. The new app provides a mobile-first way to follow markets, access your watchlist, and interact with AI-powered insights. Key moments highlight why a stock moved, offering bite-sized explanations that summarize drivers like earnings, news, or broader market trends. Live financial news feeds and the integrated AI research tool give you contextual information without needing to jump between multiple apps.

On the app, a floating toolbar includes an “Ask” tool that lets you pose questions quickly from any screen. The interface leans into Material 3 Expressive design principles, creating a consistent, modern visual language across navigation elements, charts, and research panels. This design approach focuses on clarity, responsive layouts, and accessible typography to improve the user experience when viewing dense financial data on small screens.

Over the coming months, Google plans to introduce additional capabilities, including live earnings calls and continued expansions of the features released now. The Android app is available at launch, and an iOS version is expected later in the year. These updates aim to provide a fuller, more interactive financial research environment on both mobile and web platforms.

Overall, this new Google Finance focuses on streamlining investment tracking and research with conversational AI, consolidated portfolio views, and a dedicated mobile app. For users who want an integrated way to monitor real-time data, receive tailored briefings, and explore the reasons behind market movements, the updated service brings tools designed to simplify those tasks while preserving the depth needed for informed decision-making.
