Google AI Plus Drops to $4.99 with Increased Storage

Google has announced a notable update to its AI Plus subscription plan: the monthly price has been reduced to $4.99, and subscribers will now receive 400 GB of storage. This change represents both a cost reduction and a meaningful increase in included cloud storage compared with the plan at launch.

When Google AI Plus first became available in the US, the plan cost $7.99 per month and included 200 GB of storage. The new pricing lowers the monthly fee to $4.99 (or the local equivalent in other regions) while doubling the storage allocation to 400 GB. Existing subscribers will see the lower price applied at their next plan renewal, while the storage increase will be rolled out over the next few days.

Beyond storage and price adjustments, Google AI Plus continues to provide enhanced AI features compared with the free tier. In the Gemini app, subscribers receive higher usage limits and access to a 128,000 token context window, enabling longer and more sophisticated conversations and content generation. Other premium capabilities included with AI Plus are Daily Brief, Omni Flash video generation, scheduled actions, and several productivity-enhancing tools designed to streamline workflows.

The subscription also expands limits and access across multiple Google AI products. NotebookLM sees increased capacity for document interaction and analysis. Proofread benefits from higher usage allowances, and Gmail users get extended functionality through AI Inbox features. In addition, subscribers will find more access within Google Flow, AI Studio, and Antigravity, enabling deeper experimentation and more robust content creation across Google’s AI ecosystem.

Google’s pricing tiers have seen other recent changes across its AI subscription lineup. The 2 TB tier, previously referenced under other names, is now officially labeled Google AI Plus at the $9.99 price point for that storage level. Separately, Google updated the AI Pro tier earlier in the spring to include 5 TB of storage without increasing the subscription fee. At the company’s I/O event in 2026, higher-end tiers were adjusted as well, with a new $100 AI Ultra option introduced and the top-tier price reduced from $250 to $200.

For consumers and small businesses that rely on Google’s suite of AI tools, the combination of a lower monthly price and more storage makes AI Plus a more attractive option for those who want expanded model access and advanced productivity features without committing to the higher-cost tiers. The larger 128,000 token context window in Gemini supports more complex sessions, longer documents, and multi-step workflows, which can be particularly helpful for content creators, researchers, and professionals who use AI for drafting, editing, and brainstorming.

As Google rolls out these changes, users should watch their account settings and billing notifications to see when the new price takes effect and when additional storage appears in their plan. The transition is scheduled to occur automatically: the price change will apply at the next renewal cycle, and the storage increase will appear across accounts over the coming days.

Overall, this update reflects Google’s continued adjustments to its AI subscription offerings, aiming to provide better value and more generous storage to subscribers while maintaining differentiated features across its various plans. Users evaluating which tier best suits their needs should consider both the storage and the enhanced AI capabilities included with Google AI Plus when making a decision.
