Google to Open Its 10th Store This May

Last year, Google opened four new retail locations, and the upcoming store in San Diego will become the company’s 10th Google Store in the United States. This expansion reflects Google’s continued investment in physical retail, bringing hands-on experiences and in-person support to more customers across the country.

The Google Store at Fashion Valley is scheduled to open on Friday, May 8 at 7007 Friars Rd Space 844, San Diego, CA 92108. The store occupies a second-story location in an open-air shopping center, positioned near several well-known retailers and directly across from an Apple Store. The new space sits between Vuori and Banana Republic, offering convenient foot traffic from shoppers already visiting the mall. Google has released an illustrative preview of the store but has not published full design details for this first opening of 2026.

As with other Google Stores, the Fashion Valley location will showcase the company’s hardware lineup, including Pixel phones, Pixel Watch devices, Pixel Buds headphones, and a selection of smart home products such as Nest cameras and smart speakers. Visitors can expect product demonstrations, knowledgeable staff to answer questions, and services such as on-site repairs and technical support. The physical store model allows customers to try devices before they buy them and to get direct assistance with setup and troubleshooting.

Customers can also book appointments for a range of services typically offered at Google Stores, including repair appointments and shopping or device setup sessions. These scheduled visits help ensure one-on-one attention for device onboarding, troubleshooting, or personalized shopping guidance. Appointments are designed to streamline visits and make it easier for customers to get the help they need quickly.

  • Repair appointments and in-store support for Pixel devices and other Google hardware
  • Shopping and device setup appointments to assist new owners with activation and personalization

The Fashion Valley opening marks Google’s third retail location in California, joining stores in Mountain View and Santa Monica. With three locations in the state, California now has the highest number of Google Stores in the U.S., followed by New York. Each store reflects a localized approach to retail, offering community events, product workshops, and seasonal promotions tailored to the area.

  • New York: Chelsea (2021), Williamsburg (2022)
  • California: Mountain View (2023), Santa Monica (2025), Fashion Valley, San Diego (2026)
  • Massachusetts: Newbury Street, Boston (2024)
  • Illinois: Oakbrook (2024)
  • Texas: Domain Northside, Austin (2025)
  • Florida: Aventura / Miami area (2025)
  • Washington, DC: Georgetown (2025)

Google’s retail strategy emphasizes a blend of product display, education, and direct customer care. In-store teams are trained to guide shoppers through product comparisons, demonstrate device features, and assist with transfers and setup from other platforms. The retail presence gives users a chance to experience Google’s ecosystem in person—testing camera features on Pixel phones, trying on Pixel Watch models, and hearing Pixel Buds in real environments—before making a purchase.

Community engagement is another focus for these physical locations. Past Google Stores have hosted workshops, launch events, and local collaborations designed to draw interest beyond transactional retail. For many customers, the stores serve as a destination to learn about new products, join events, and receive hands-on technical help that complements online support resources.

The San Diego Fashion Valley store will join this growing network and offer residents and visitors an accessible place to explore Google’s hardware and services. As Google continues to open new stores, the company is refining the retail experience to combine convenient service, product expertise, and opportunities for customers to interact directly with devices and experts in a comfortable, walk-in setting.
